With notes of tart strawberry, stewed raspberry, black & white pepper spice, and a subtle earthiness, this 100% gamay is fresh, light, and fun!
The story behind this one is fun, too! The vineyard used to be in the Moulin à Vent appellation of France until the French government redrew dividing lines, changing it to the Fleurie appellation. This angered the original owner so much, he refused to label the wine as Fleurie and never sold a drop to France, instead exporting to nearby countries. The current owners (the Coudert family) bought the vineyard in the '60s and kept the original name but finally added Fleurie to the label.
Try pairing this wine with a slow-roasted chicken with fresh herbs, saucisson sec, roasted pork loin, quiche, roasted pumpkin soup, pecan pie, almond cake - or whatever they recommend at Persimmon, where it's pouring by the glass!
